I'm looking for some winter wheels for my Gen 3 S and there are quite a used few sets available.
The issue is that the Gen 3 cars are specified as requiring 8.5J wheels on the front instead of the previous 8J of the earlier cars.
Does anyone know if the 8J fronts can be used on the Gen 3 cars or is it mandatory to get the 8.5 J?
Wheel query
I was told by my local tyre fitter my 19” x 8J had minimum clearance on Gen 3 GTS and wanted Porsche to confirm they were okay. OEM said needed 8.5J but not sure if that was parts guy trying to make a sale of new wheels or if he actually checked with mechanics.
I have a set of black 20” rs spyders on my gen 3, and they’re the exact same size and offset at winter wheels sold for the gen 3.
They’re off a gen one originally.
Check out the wheels available in the tech equipment catalogue for each generation. A lot of them fit all generations.

The smallest wheels listed for a Macan are:
19-inch Macan wheels
Set of alloy wheels with dual-arm five-spoke lightweight design.
Front: 8.5 J x 19 ET 21 with 235/55 R 19 tyres
Rear: 9 J x 19 ET 21 with 255/50 R 19 tyres
That might be where the 8.5J requirement being quoted comes from.
I do know that the 18" winter wheels I had for my SD were not suitable for my Gen 2 GTS because of a lack of clearance with the larger discs but until Gen 3 the 19" wheels for the front were 8J.
