Hi everyone,

I am a new member and looking for 17 plate Diesel Macan S. Found the price is a big difference between the cars from autotrader and from Porsche approved used car ( around £10,000 difference ). Can I buy a car from autotrader then join the Porsche Approved Warranty?

Refer below link, the price of a Porsche Approved Warranty standalone policy only costs £920 in 12 months.

Thank you very much. :D

Welcome to the forum!

You can buy a Porsche extended warranty for a car bought other than from an OPC after you've owned it for 90 days. You need to pay for a 111-point check (about £200-300). If the last service wasn't done by an OPC I think you have to pay an OPC to do the service again. Remember that if you buy a Porsche extended warranty it locks you into using OPCs for all service/repair work, which will cost you a lot more than having work done by a decent Porsche independent workshop.

Welcome. The car will have to pass the 111 point check and that could cost thousands if non Oem parts are discovered (tyres, brakes, suspension, hoses, belts etc).. So download the checklist and carefully inspect any car not from an OPC.

Welcome.

Depends upon the type of mileage that you are going to do as to an SD being the right car.

As a Town Car forget it as you risk the DPF blocking up.

The display for MPG is likely to show 10% more than actual, my SD only ever achieved 33 MPG actual.

That said I do not like the SD engine at all.

Do due diligence on the SD, the Transfer Box is a weak point and only has a 7 year warranty which is specific to this part as so many have failed, Brake Discs can need replacing sooner than they reasonably should. As both these individual repairs could cost thousands do get it right.

Do a lot of people use these decent Porsche independent workshops and are they reliable?

Brake Discs can check by eyes, but how to check the transfer box has issue?

With older cars, people often use independent Porsche specialists. By and large, these businesses are run by enthusiasts and are staffed by ex-OPC technicians. The attraction obviously is much lower labour rates, which can result in significant savings in service and repair work.

Car stopped on a slight slope, apply full lock and reverse.

Repeat with full opposite lock.

Any clunks, thuds or uneven motion will need investigation.

If the transfer box has been replaced the Service Record should show at the OPC and you should view the record.

If they resist giving that information then walk away.

I would actually only buy a used Macan if it had passed a Porsche 111 point inspection and included a full two year Porsche warranty.

Put 60K on mine in 4 years and love it.

MPG will depend on how you drive it and the wheel size. I have 21" wheels and my long term average is 35mpg. I do very little short trips either.

40-44mpg on a long run (indicated, actual is 10% less)

They do drive really nice.
