Porsche inflation (sometimes best not to look)
Just confirmed spec on my replacement GTS and checked against my previous spec. I do have around £2k of additions over current but the price movement is well…

Yes, frightening isn't it. I wouldn't be able to afford my car today with todays price and todays interest rates.
That probably isn't a bad thing to Porsche - they're probably quite excited to move a bit further upmarket through exclusivity. whilst making more money than ever hand over fist.

Then there’s the depreciation on your current car to add into price differential

All cars seem stupidly expensive to me now. I spent quite a few years working overseas so I didn’t see continuous increases like most people. I just saw massive differences when I came back here. Most other stuff doesn’t seem to have gone up like cars have. For me it is most striking with average cars and I feel it now makes more sense to buy a more premium brand like Porsche, since the price difference isn’t as big any longer, relatively.
I don’t know why people aren’t rioting over stuff like this, but perhaps they don’t notice often enough or they think “I mustn’t grumble”. I so admire the French - they don’t put up with these things like we do.

Yip, remember last year when they rioted on the streets re the proposed state pension age increase from 62to 64!Moriarty wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 5:20 pm All cars seem stupidly expensive to me now. Dancing in the streets if UK government changed state pension age to 64!

Wow! £15k cheaper than the one I have coming in May/June!! Albeit spec is near identical to my current Macan but for the addition of PCCB’s & Burmester, the difference in price is not ‘significantly’ more than my 01/09/22 model.

Ah, the cost of living crisis. Terrible innit.

That's your perception, but I'd suggest the reality is the opposite. Cars are much cheaper and vastly better equipped today than they used to be. I bought a new Mercedes 230E saloon for my wife in Jan 1989 for the princely sum of £22K (including about £400 to have a radio fitted). According to the Bank of England, that £22K would equate to £55.5K in today's money and the nearest current equivalent Merc would be a C200 which costs only £45K and has more equipment than you can shake a stick at, not to mention much better performance and economy.Moriarty wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 5:20 pm All cars seem stupidly expensive to me now. Good point, I just did the comparison matching identically wherever possible and to the value of some of the non matching items. The S did come out cheaper by £521. With a huge extras value. So I’m already feeling better, especially after seeing OP’s near £100k comment
