My step-mother died last year and I am executor of the estate. I'm seriously considering whether to sell her mobility scooter or keep it for future useCol Lamb wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 2:06 pmYep, that is the way to go.Monaco2323 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 12:42 pmFor cheap motoring Buy a daciaCol Lamb wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 12:15 pm I bought my Turbo for cash in Sept 2016, it was new with a reasonable but not excessive set of options for £74,500
WBAC offered £28,400 in January 2024.
So that equates to just over £500 a month depreciation and right on track with my estimate.
Just how much are you PCP folks essentially throwing away each month in interest charges?
As has been said many times before, if you want cheap motoring Do Not buy a Porsche.
Mind you when I get to 80 I may be in a powered mobility scooter and will be burning rubber at the excessive flat out speed of 8mph.

I thought the Macan was a very popular Porsche? One in demand which people actually wish to buy, to use, and not just "aspire" to?
A few weeks ago there were just 17 new Macan's for sale in OPCs versus 354 new 911s making the 911 almost as unpopular as the 384 Taycans sitting in dealerships...

Bearing in mind that ICE Macan's are due to stop being produced in a year or so and that 911s will continue to be built, seemingly forever, the laws of supply and demand make a very good case for used ICE Macan's to continue to be clamoured over as an everyday "do anything" luxury SUV and for 911s to remain languishing in OPCs.
That Porsche make and sell over double the number of Macans (and Cayennes) to 911s further strengthens the argument that a used ICE Macan will hold up very well.
I assume you mean TODAY, but I sold my 42 month old S to WBAC last February for 72% of what it cost. Its replacement, one year old yesterday, might not recoup so much but I don't give a toss its not going anywhere!HertsMacan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 2:39 pmShow me a four year old Macan which can be SOLD (not bought) for 60% of what it was new.

The Porche Dashcam is absolute rubbish! My 1 year old Macan is currently in the dealership on its fourth attempt to repair the dashcam. The software is glitchy and unfriendly and for what it cost me shocking! I am now being told the pre wiring may be at fault! Do not buy!

Just by way of balance, there are 26 iterations of 911 compared to just 4 in the Macan.DJMCUK wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 5:28 pm

I wonder if dealerships are stocking up on 911 due to the ever increasing restrictions on selling them in ratio with EV?

Yes, because the 42 month old one sold last Feb was bought pre pandemic before numerous hefty price raises and sold before the arse dropped out of the second-hand car market last autumn. I suspect you got lucky with the timing on that one - wonder what WBAC would have paid for it 6/8 months later. I bet the new one, like my Macan, will not recoup anything like that percentage at 42 months old. Those days are over.Neil1911 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 6:02 pmI assume you mean TODAY, but I sold my 42 month old S to WBAC last February for 72% of what it cost. If you treat Depreciation as a Usage Charge it will demonstrate that a Macan is pretty good value....HertsMacan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 6:59 pmYes, because the 42 month old one sold last Feb was bought pre pandemic before numerous hefty price raises and sold before the arse dropped out of the second-hand car market last autumn. I don't think owning a Macan can ever be classed as good value, and I doubt anybody has ever purchased one seeking good value. We pays our money and takes our choice in life.PorscheMack wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 9:23 amIf you treat Depreciation as a Usage Charge it will demonstrate that a Macan is pretty good value....HertsMacan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 6:59 pmYes, because the 42 month old one sold last Feb was bought pre pandemic before numerous hefty price raises and sold before the arse dropped out of the second-hand car market last autumn.
