Col Lamb, nice car and thanks for the update. It reassures me that I should be ok with my plan. Slightly annoying if Porsche UK are only prepared to state a specific line without any technical or safety reasoning underpinning it. Sounds like too much commercial influence!

From it, I cannot see any reason that a gen 3 20” wheel should not be compatible with a Gen 1 model - unless the brake discs / calipers are different sizes - but then I would expect the wheels to have different sizing or offset data to accommodate - and they don’t.
Alloy wheels direct list 20" wheels for Gen1 & Gen 3 as exactly the same width & offset.

No idea whose car that was it was the first I found online with the GT Design wheels.

I paid the Option fee to upgrade from these to Spyders.

Wish I had not now, spyders look good but are a pain to clean.

They are actually called "SportDesign" wheels, and I chose them for my Macan because they looked incredibly easy to clean - which they are!

They do look good and easy to clean - it’s convinced me to make the upgrade. Just wish Macan wheels weren’t so expensive compared to wider Porsche models.

I had those on my SD and loved them. If they'd been available for the GTS in 2020, I'd have optioned them.

Firstly, I spoke to the service manager at two separate Porsche garages. Both said that the RS Spyder wheels are the only endorsed 20” version for a Gen 1 Macan. But they couldn’t offer any technical reasoning.

Secondly, I was of the view that all 20” wheels were 10J and 9J respectively. Therefore all tyres would be the same size. Is that not the case perhaps?
Total BS, on Gen 1 the standard 20” wheels were not Spyders, they were the GT Design as seen in the image.

If memory serves me correctly there were three or four 20” permutations available.

Those look like Sport Design wheels (as on Mike’s Macan S). They were not standard on the 2.0 Macan, but may have been standard kit on the S. (Unless 19” wheels were standard & these were an upgrade?)

18" wheels were standard on the original S and SD. There were some forum members in the past who specced them. I had a set with winter tyres on them with the 20" Sports Design on summer tyres.

Ah, ok. I know the 2.0 had standard 18” wheels, so somehow thought the more expensive S models would have come with larger wheels.

I upgraded my Macan 2.0 to 21” Sport Classic wheels.
