Replacement Steering Rack Macan S 2018

Hi all,

I've just had an estimate to replace my Steering rack as mine is apparently faulty, my question is if I obtained a second hand unit that hand previously been coded to a different vehicles (another Macan S ), can the steering rack then be 'recoded' to my vehicle?

I note these are electronics steering racks so they need to be coded to the car.

The cost for a second hand one of is significantly cheaper than a new one but over half the cost.

I have sourced one from a 2019 model S, it has same part number 95B423055AJ, however my independent garage is unsure they can be recoded, once they have been coded to a car.

I would have thought it possible to replace with a used unit but there may be some coding trickery involved? What guarantee is there on the used unit? You are best talking to a good Porsche Indy, they will certainly know. You may have already found this ( link below)
