This is a bit misleading. If you buy an extended Porsche warranty, it requires you to have all servicing and repairs carried out by an OPC, rather than an independent.

I disagree to a degree. OPC Leicester service told me they were quite happy to have GCR Porsche (Leicester indy) carry out any work using OEM parts when I queried this under extended warranty in my 981.
BUT... always check everything ONE OPC says with PGB as OPCs are "sometimes confused" or "sometimes make mistakes."
The extended warranty is quite specific, para 2c is clear. It gives the German insurance company which issues the warranty an easy means of declining to pay out.DJMCUK wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:19 pm

We’ve done this to death Andreas. The first sentence is the key - only if failure is DUE to the defective third party service etc.andreas wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:47 pmThe extended warranty is quite specific, para 2c is clear. having a third party service does NOT invalidate a used Porsche warranty in itself. I checked this with Porsche GB last year when we had the Boxster serviced by an Indy.
We then subsequently had a £2k warranty claim which was honoured no problem (and yes they were aware of its service history).
This is actual experience of the process backed by confirmation from both Porsche GB and the OPC.

.... and if you add to that the warranty granted on said work by that third party you will still be covered. It's standard practice that insurers avoid covering a risk that's covered elsewhere, otherwise we'd all be claiming twice for losses and making a tidy profit out of our misfortunes!Jon A wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:57 pmWe’ve done this to death Andreas. I stand by what I posted, it gives the German insurers a let-out if they want one.Jon A wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:57 pm

I would argue the opposite I think it’s in writing and very clear. Plus we now have not one but two actual examples of extended warranty not being affected by third party service.andreas wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 5:41 pmI stand by what I posted, it gives the German insurers a let-out if they want one.Jon A wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 4:57 pm

Why should we RTFM if we then disagree with what it says?

I could get a new Cayenne ehybrid with work, with a few boxes ticked and 15k miles a year / 4 years, including insurance and maintainance, it would be £1200 ish a month net.
Obviously that's circa £60k over 4 years with nothing to show for at the end and it will be an extremely long wait.
A Panamera is another £200 a month more.
I need to sort a few things first, but once I do, I'll be test driving whatever I can get my hands on.
This will be my largest ever car purchase and its got to be right.
If you don’t change your car every few years, ownership starts to make more financial sense, especially if you extend ownership longer.
My main advice if buying used is to spend the extra to buy from an OPC to get the 2 year approved warranty.
Good luck in your search.
