Tomorrow we set off on our Christmas holidays to Preston, then off to East Anglia for new year. I'm looking forward to spending 1500 miles in my Macan, however I am taking the family, which includes two kids and our young Cocker Spaniel.

No problem, cage in the boot, sorted! Nope the cage wont fit due to the sloping hatch. Boot without cage then... See below, I hope I've done enough!

It was either this or we take my wife's (dog transporter) Evoque, and for obvious reasons I didn't fancy that.

Hello DNR17, that looks to me like a very well protected boot. But where are you going to put your luggage? All in the roofbox?

We were hoping to transport our Labrador in a nylon dog carrier in the boot of our future Macan, but I do have my doubts because of the sloping roof line. And you just confirmed them. So might have to keep to the back seat hammock arrangement we currently have in the little 135i.

Anyway, thank you for sharing and enjoy your trip and Merry Christmas! Smile

Don't forget to protect the rear bumper and boot lip.
The dogs claws will scratch the bumper otherwise when it jumps in

Just for note on dog cages/guards etc. If you get the Cargo management you get a net (don't think it comes with the car otherwise) and the net can hang from just behind the drivers head and secures on the top of the back seats when folded. The hooks (or where the hooks go into) in the ceiling will be on all cars I am sure.
When the rear seats are not folded down the same net can be up behind the rear passengers heads.

Rest assures Col, she will be hand lifted in and out.
Spotted the deliberate mistake SPL, I started with the left side, then improved on my design with the right. My cardboard box wasn't big enough to re-do the left side again.
We will set off with dog in boot, kids on back seat, wife on passenger seat, luggage in roof box. This arrangement could be changed enroute depending on behaviour of each department.
Wishing you all a great Christmas!
