My Suzuki Jimny has done 120k miles with minimal TLC and only needed a new (£200) cat at some stage.

If the Macan at 40 X the purchase price needs a major expenditure i'll be less than impressed.

Based on the 928 performance i'll be long dead before the Macan breaks down!

I have joined the 'Transfer Box' club.
Petrol Macan S, Dec 2015 with 31k miles.
Juddery take-off from standstill until 20-30mph.
Immediate diagnosis of Transfer Box failure by OPC. Item on back order from Germany and will take up to 10 days.

If I keep the car beyond its 3 years, I will take the extended warranty

It 'seems' that C.30k is the mileage for problems to occur. My mileage at 3 years will only be 24k, so the EW looks like a good call?

Mine went at about 12K when just over two years old. Perhaps it’s more related to time rather than mileage. A seal drying out perhaps?

Good point, RMS had to be replaced on my 911 at sub 10k miles and also gearbox seal on GT3 at similar mileage. A Porsche weak spot?

Frankly it amazes me that Porsche owners accept the fact they need extended warranty to cover themselves for a manufacture’s defect. I have driven many 100k miles in lesser engineered cars wirhout any problem or having to fork out for a warranty. Perhaps morevmoney than sense guys!

Just had first service at 19k miles, been told transfere box needs replaced, booked the car in July to get it done, service manager has told me he will keep it for a full week and review any other warenty issues and carry these out at the same time. As many other owners have comment seams to be a joke that Porsche know about it and are not doing a lot or recall but just waiting for owners to complain! Is there no main fix for this as I have seen that some owners are on their second box that has also failed?

When I had my transfer box replaced in Feb this year, I was told that there is no 'new' warranty for the transfer box - i.e it will run out at the same time as the rest of the car, in September this year.

However, on the Porsche Wolverhampton website it states this:

Porsche Parts Warranty

Every Porsche Genuine Part fitted to your Porsche by a Porsche Centre comes with a two year Parts Warranty. This warranty is only applicable if a repair/part is not paid for by Porsche or is completed/replaced under a Porsche Approved Warranty policy or the New Car Guarantee.

Is it just me that finds the second sentence ambiguous? Should my new transfer box have its own 2 year warranty or not?
