How does 'Low Level' differ to PASM 'Sport Plus'

I have the 'low level' button in my car (picture of a car with an downward arrow under it).

From what I read in GTK, this lowers the car by 10mm, which I think is the same level as PASM's 'Sport Plus' setting.

So, in what circumstances would I need a 'Low Level' button when I have the PASM button just above it?

Sport Plus button will change the ride height to low level as a convenience, but you can change it back if you want.
Sport Plus button also turns on PSE and other things as a convenience too.

Sport Plus doesn't have its own ride height.

You might use the low level ride height button when you are in comfort mode.
Indeed, given it improves CoG, aerodynamics and (IMO) appearance, it might as well be the default setting.

Ride height is remembered, so mine is always set low.

What Goron says.

Mine's set to low level all the while.

Sport and Sport+ do what they say on the tin and also turn my PSE on, although they can be switched on and off independently of each other.

Hmm. I was talking about the PASM suspension settings, not the separate Sport and Sport+ settings.

Ah yes, sorry, but it's effectively the same thing.

The PASM sport and sport plus settings are just damper stiffness and have absolutely nothing to do with ride height.

It's just that when you push the sport or sport plus buttons, other things happen automatically for your convenience, although it's rarely that convenient.

2 mins playing with it and it will be obvious..

+1. I love the low ride height setting and have it on for at least 95% of the time (regardless of whether I'm in Normal/Economy, Sport or Sport Plus mode). I definitely think it improves the look of the car. And I tell myself that it also improves the handling and could marginally reduce fuel consumption too? :geek:

So given that it does all those wonderful things at little (or zero?) cost to the manufacturer, why indeed isn't it the default setting? Other than reduced ground clearance, what are the downsides?

No downsides.
People apparently buy SUVs because they are high up with good clearance. Most people of course don't need that. But it still has to play the part.
