Yes that's correct.

Presumably there's nothing obstructing the sensor view, stuff on the rear parcel shelf, stickers or dirt on rear window or windscreen?

Have you tested it by turning it on and off with a car's headlamps behind you?

Yes, I did test it that way on the motorway which is where I camne to the conclusion that the effect was very subtle. Odd?

I am thinking to add this option but not sure how effective it is. Any recent experience to share?

Very useful, especially at night when it's more difficult to judge how far away a car is, say when you're looking to change lanes

Useful?? Not had it for three years and has made zero difference to my driving enjoyment. In fact im now convinced it’s just a pointless fad…

I use it frequently and very useful on motorways as you can’t miss the flashing amber lights on each door mirror

Yep, I'd agree it's useful.
I wouldn't ever rely on it as the only check before a lane change but as a supplementary aid it works well

It’s a blind spot indicator that’s all it’s for and it’s a handy extra and not a fad

Useful on the continent. Don’t have it on my GTi and don’t really miss it.
One of the options that should be standard as on many lesser cars. Still can’t believe that practically everything on a Porsche is a paid for option.
