A nice Guards Red 991.2 GT3 for sale with Top555.

300 miles.

£179,950

By my reckoning that's about £56k about list price. Or a 45% mark up.

I don't imagine that the supplying OPC will be too happy. :|

I'm surprised Porsche, seeing such a strong used market don't just hike the price themselves although I was reading in Classic car that prices for 996 GT3s took a bit of a bath, -30% at the end of last year. Just goes to show how fickle the market for specialist cars can be.

I agree completely! From a business point of view, why not whack £50k on the price?!

They'd still sell more than they can build, especially if the next GT3 will be turbocharged! :ugeek:

For the GT3, it could depreciate and I’d still want one. It does everything it should, better than every car of it’s type and price bracket.

And yep, I’d pay a bit more if that’s what Porsche did...

But maybe not £56k more?! ;)

Yeah, maybe not that much more! But when you think it currently lists at far less than a 540 hp R8 V10 then you see how it’s maybe undervalued to start with.

I’d say it’s probably a £140k car, plus options...and worth every penny!

Agreed that it is under-priced, as was the 991.1 GT3 and the GT4.

Why would Porsche do that, I wonder...? :?

Yeah, just makes no sense. Basic economics should make it more expensive. They have more demand than supply, so stick the price up...

I doubt many owners return a GT3/4/RS to the OPC for a reduced price sale...so cant see how Porsche gets any benefit from this uplift. Apart from people entering the brand at a lower level with an aspirational purchase...like me...plan is to go macan, 911 GTS then see what happens...

911 Turbo always cost the most - that is Porsche's pricing structure and has always been. GT3 is the top of the Carrera tree, GT2 top of the Turbo tree.

It has only been since the 997.2 GT3 RS, particularly 4.0, that the market has gone nuts. You are absolutely right that Porsche could change their structure because of that, but for some reason they haven't...maybe looking for long term consistency for some reason

I wonder if the GT3 price bubble isn't just a UK thing where there seems to be five takers for every one available new. Reading the American sites there doesn't seem to be any of the shortage of supply, or the massive marked ups second hand ones we see here.
